Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes
Cheryle is a proud NehiyawEsquao (Cree Woman), a member of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, Treaty Six, and Métis. Her ceremonially gifted Cree name translates to “Healing Woman Who Walks Far”,and she has resided in Calgary, Treaty 7, Alberta, since 1993. Cheryle earneda BA in Communications and a BA in Canadian “Native” Studies from the University of Calgary, and a Diploma in Advertising & Public Relations from Grant MacEwan University, Edmonton. Cheryle received the rank of Corporal in the Canadian Air Force, receiving an honourable discharge after five years’ service.
Cheryle has been an Indigenous activist within Calgary and area for the past two decades, speaking, marching, singing and drumming for women, MMIWG2S/Sisters in Spirit/Justice for Jackie Crazybull, Indigenous Justice, championing the environment and equality, and speaking up for those who cannot. Cheryle retired as Administrative Coordinator at the Native Centre at the University of Calgary; she was former Leader of the Green Party of Alberta (2018-2019) and a KAIROS Blanket Exercise Facilitator (2017-2020).She received an IAAW Esquao Award for Justice and Human Rights in May 2023. Recognized as a Traditional Knowledge Keeper, Cree Elder and Pipe Carrier, Cheryle provides service sharing Indigenous protocol, Territorial Acknowledgements, Medicine Wheel Teachings, Indigenous cultural teachings and stories, prayers and ceremony (upon request). She is a member of the Storytellers of Canada and Storytelling Alberta as an Indigenous storyteller and performer. Cheryle is mother of two and “Kokum” (grandmother) to five beautiful grandchildren.

Dan Leung Dan was a registered nurse for over 10 years in Calgary. He transferred from health care to health promotion with AHS Occupational Health. His focus then changed from staff health to special populations, providing programs for new Diabetics, MS and Cancer Survivors (at U of C), Physically and Developmentally Challenged and, of course, the Older Adult.
For 18 years, Dan has also been a PRO-TRAINER, providing Educational Courses, National Certifications, and CPR to Canadian Fitness Professionals.

Dave Goldenberg
Dave is a native Calgarian and has lived here all his life. He enjoys working with people of all ages to help them develop good fitness habits, improve their physical and mental well being and have fun doing so. He’s very active working with older adults in various facilities throughout Calgary .
Dave is very much looking forward to being a part of the Unison team!

Gina Komanac
Gina was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and moved to Calgary at the ripe age of 2 years old. She has a Certificate in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training from Sunshine Yoga (May 2011), a 200-hour program focusing on meditation, relaxation, and limbering of the joints and glands, within the Traditional Hatha Yoga Instruction method.
Hatha Yoga utilizes gentle stretches, deep breathing, relaxation, meditation and limbering of the joints and glands. It can help participants with all movements including core strength, balance, and injury prevention. Stretches with ankles, knees, and hips help with flexibility, and the standing poses with balance and mobility.
Gina's 60-minute classes include a short meditation component at the end to allow the participants and their bodies to develop muscle memory of the limber and relaxed state they attained during the class, leading to overall mind and body wellness.

Hannah Flahr
Hannah is
an accredited Exercise Physiologist with extensive experience in physical
activity program delivery. She completed her Master’s degree at the University
of Queensland and has spent several years designing and implementing health
enhancing initiatives to a range of populations. Linking her 13 years of
experience in mindfulness practices, and her passion to promote well-being,
Hannah designs and delivers motivating and engaging programs with an emphasis
on self-empowerment through movement.

Lea Storry
Lea Storry is a writer who owns a writing, editing and publishing business in Edmonton. She has also lived in Calgary and taught several writing and computer courses at Kerby Centre, learning centres and online. Lea has written and published several books for clients and is a published and indie-published (independently published) author, too. Her background is in journalism and her last name is really her last name. Lea believes that just like anyone can sing, anyone can write. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge with workshop participants.

Navin Jetha
Navin Jetha teaches and inspires her students to incorporate
simple yet powerful techniques for health and well-being so that they can take
charge of their life, reclaim their energy and live their life to the fullest. She’s a
health coach, and also teaches fitness, yoga and meditation that focus on
breath and mind-body connection.
Her warm personality, passion for health, experience, and compassion for people
have encouraged many students to take care of their health.

Sally Towers-Sybblis
Sally is a
mixed-media artist from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Her whimsical style of art
often incorporates a combination of lettering, watercolor, and book
making.
Her passion
lies in inspiring others to experience the joy of creativity. She does this
through teaching various workshops around the province and online.
Sally
believes everyone has the innate ability to create. Her teaching style is one
that inspires and evokes joy through the process of creativity.

Sharon Falconer
Sharon has done Laughter sessions for many Seniors
facilities and local schools in Calgary, as well as corporations
including; Vista Virtual Conference for Centres for Spiritual Living
International, CRA-Bankruptcy Division, Town of Irricana, Atco
Power, Banff Centre of the Arts, Covenant Care, Silvera for Seniors, Canadian
Association of Retired Professionals, Woods Homes, and Creative Tree, FABAIC in
Orlando Florida, a premier convention with over 1000 attendees, just to name a
few.

Susan Dankert She knew she was going to be a storyteller. Susan began her career in broadcasting and a few years later took on a communications position with Ottawa Humane Society. For the last 22 years she has told the stories of passionate pet businesses and played a role in advancing animal wellbeing in Canada as Communications Director for Pets Canada. Susan has recently started a new phase in her writing career by supporting others to discover their own writing voice, and the right words to express their thoughts.
